Entry 43 - Shelter, by Spence Snyder
Shelter by Spence Snyder (@artofspence)
I am a painter, illustrator and designer and have been freelancing for the last 20 years. I grew up and went to art school in the San Francisco Bay Area and have worked with a number of high profile companies such as Intuit, Yahoo and EA Games. I have been exhibiting my fine art paintings in group shows since 2013 and have had two local solo shows in 2016 and 2017.
This oil painting of two lovebirds perched on a human ribcage amidst lush vegetation refers to taking shelter during a time of change or adversity and the power of emotional bonds to fortify one’s resolve. The scene weaves together symbols of life, death and rebirth and questions the relationship that we humans have with the natural world.
