Entry 44 - Self Portrait with Mask, by Jennifer Woehrle
Self Portrait with Mask by Jennifer Woehrle (@jenniferwoehrleart)
I am a VCU art student recently moved to Richmond from Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am interested in figural painting, and how it can be used to communicate contemporary themes. I love playing games and hanging out with my husband and dog.
I am interested in portraiture as a form of record keeping, and in uncertain and scary times I wanted a record or reflection of what was happening and my emotional reaction. Wearing masks today can be seen as a symbol of concern for your community, as it protects those around you more than it protects yourself, almost as an article of faith.
